#1 - Bective Abbey; ★★★★★
Peaceful spot away from the busy main roads & packed streets, located next to the River Boyne. A dog-friendly spot, just beware there are no bins on the site! Definitely a spot for a picnic on a nice, sunny day spent wandering the small ruins.

#5 - Dunmoe Castle; ★★★
Quiet spot away from the usual sights, but due to the extent of the damage to the castle, not much to see. Ruins of one remaining wall and a small church next, the only other point of significance is the Boyne river just a few yards away.

#2 - Hill of Slane; ★★★★★
Another peaceful spot tucked away just off a side street in Slane. Also dog-friendly, but no bins on site - and keep in mind the cemetery is still in use today.

#6 - The Priory of St. John the Baptist; ★★★★
Another quiet spot away from the rush of the towns and cities, nestled perfectly by the banks of the river Boyne. Peaceful spot to sit with one’s thoughts, a spot of fishing, or just enjoying some quiet reflection time.

#3 - Loughcrew Megalithic Centre; ★★★★★
Bit off the beaten path, the road leading up to the cairns small car park is very narrow, be careful! Definitely a bit of a hike, not for those easily out of breath, even when taking your time. Dog-friendly, but no bins on site. Views from the top are well worth the climb!

#7 - Kells Monastic Site; ★★★★
As most cemeteries are, Kells was a deeply peaceful visit despite there being a handful of people there. The High Crosses that still stand on site are absolute works of art.

#4 - Hill of Tara; ★★★
Place of historical significance, plenty to learn about the site, but not much to really do, unfortunately. Great spot for a walk in nature and to see the historic mounds around the place. Dog-friendly, bins at the entrance.
